New trucks
By August, 18,975 new trucks had been registered in Poland, including 13,693 tractor units. This means that the cumulative results are very similar to those for 2024: +0.2% and +3.8% year-on-year. However, compared to August 2024, the registration level is much better: +26.8% and +58% (source: PZPM). This may indicate a gradual recovery in the truck market in Poland.
The largest markets in Western Europe are still in crisis. Cumulative registrations of new trucks fell by 23% in Germany and by 17% year-on-year in France (source: VDA, PFA). Economic problems are having a clear impact on sales results there. Against this backdrop, the Polish market looks exceptionally positive.
Used trucks
Tractor units continue to sell at a slow pace, although this depends on the price, age and condition of the vehicle. Demand for the youngest vehicles with low mileage has been stable for several months. They are achieving quite high values, given the current market situation. This may be the first sign of a return of demand for transport in Poland in over two years. It should also be remembered that transport manufacturers have significantly reduced production recently, and the long delivery times for new vehicles are driving demand for newer used vehicles.
Older tractors are a problem due to the lack of sales and export opportunities abroad. The eastern direction has been completely blocked due to sanctions against Russia. In this situation, their values are exceptionally low. An optimistic sign is the clear slowdown in the rate of decline in value in the third quarter of the year, regardless of age. This may be due to the traditionally low activity of transport companies during the holiday season, but also to a slow increase in interest in used vehicles.
Used truck stocks
There has been a significant decline in the number of used tractor units in adverts. Year-on-year, it amounted to as much as 16%. This is not related to larger purchases, but to the entry of vehicles from the first phase of the pandemic onto the market. Limited registrations during that period naturally reduced the current supply. This situation may help to maintain the value of used vehicles in the near future.
