The ACEA organisation has just published its quarterly figures for truck registrations in the European Union:
- 171,933 units in H1/2026 compared with 156,591 units in Q1/2025, representing a 9.8% increase in registrations
- Countries with the biggest falls: Malta (-18.9%), Belgium (-7.3%) and Ireland (-6.2%)
- Top performers: the Netherlands (+47.5%), Cyprus (+30.6%) and Slovakia (+28.7%)
- The largest markets recorded increases: Germany (+7.1%), France (+0.2%), Poland (+25.9%), Spain (+13.2%) and Italy (+4.0%)
- Poland: 18,908 units in Q1 2026 compared with 15,014 units in Q1 2025, representing a rise of 25.9% and third place in the European Union
Statistics point to a significant improvement in the transport sector within the European Union. With the exception of a few small markets, new truck registrations are on the rise, resulting in an overall year-on-year increase of 9.8% after the first half of the year. It should be borne in mind, however, that last year’s figure was relatively low.
The semi-trailer market also shows an improvement following the first half of 2026, albeit at a variable rate. The major markets are growing significantly: Germany +19.8%, Poland +8.0%, Spain +17.1% and Italy +0.6% (data: Expertdata based on VDA and industry organisation statistics). Here too, last year’s figures were low.
The first half of the year certainly brought a revival to the transport market. Up to and including June, trucks and semi-trailers enjoyed greater demand than in the previous year. Fluctuating fuel prices and the complex situation facing hauliers in Europe are not, for the time being, affecting purchasing decisions.
